Scope note
Freestanding cupboards, particulary with reference to cupboards in use in the mid-16th century in England for freestanding cupboards used for the storage of food and drink, generally in the form of a two-tier cupboard with pierced or spindle doors for ventilation. Use "aumbries" with reference to similar forms made before, after, or during the Medieval period.
